Homebuyer Education
Instructions for taking the Homebuyer Education Online
  • Follow the link above: select "yes" when the warning screen pops up.
  • Once at the MGIC website find a column on the left labeled "Other MGIC Sites"
  • Choose either "Buyers Ed in English" or "Buyers Ed en Espanol"
  • Review the offered material to help you prepare for the Buyers Ed Test
  • Select the link to take the "Buyers Ed Test"
  • Fill out the information completely.
  • The buyers ed code is the following e-mail: ljmethe@nnb-krny.com
  • After completing and passing the test, print the certification, sign and Return to Nebraska National Bank. If you don't pass you can take the test again.
  • This must be done prior to closing of your NIFA loan.
Rural First Time Homebuyer Program
The Rural First-time Homebuyer Program (RFHP) is a down payment assistance program designed to help first-time homebuyers in rural areas purchase a home.
  • Eligible Homebuyer Requirements
    • No cash back at closing.
    • Income that is 80% or less of the area median, based on income of all household members.
    • Purchase a home located in a rural area (Kearney is inlcluded).
    • Complete a homebuyer education/counseling program prior to receiving the funds.
    • Provide a minimum down payment of $500; and
    • Have an income not based on a temporary condition (such as a full-time student).

Funds are on a "first come, first serve" basis.
